Past posts from X

Importing past posts reads the last year, up to 20 posts per account. For anything older, drop the archive zip, or tweets.js (and any tweets-part files) together. tweets.js on its own is the quickest to read.

On X, open Settings and privacy, then Your account, then Download an archive of your data. X emails a link when it is ready, usually within a day. If you unzip it, the files that hold your posts are data/tweets.js and, for a long history, data/tweets-part1.js and the ones after it. Select them all at once so a thread that runs across files stays whole.

Retweets and replies to other people are skipped; replies to your own posts, which make up a thread, are kept. The file is read in this browser. Only the text, date and link of your own posts are sent, and your direct messages and the rest of the archive stay unopened. The studio keeps 300 posts across all your accounts.
